Historical Journal
Historiallinen Aikakauskirja (the name means ’Historical Journal’) is a scholarly journal published by the Finnish Historical Society and the Society of the Friends of History. The journal publishes articles, reviews, critiques and commentaries related to all fields of historical research. It is peer-reviewed, which means that experts evaluate whether submissions meet the publication's requirements. Combining high research quality with clarity of expression, Historiallinen Aikakauskirja makes an enjoyable read for professional researchers and history enthusiasts alike. Instead of superficial entertainment, the journal offers insights that also serve as background information on current events. From the issue 1 of the volume 112 (2014) onwards, each peer-reviewed article contains a brief summary in English. Regardig the earlier issues, please see the Notes on the contents.
Historiallinen Aikakauskirja, as several other publications of The Finnish Historical Society, has been included in SCOPUS since 2020.
